Hi my name is John Keane and I live in Dublin. I began painting seriously 2 years ago when my wife died at a very young age. I began painting to occupy my mind and it turned into a form of therapy. I try to introduce colour and emotion into my paintings probably playing out my own memories and emotions too. I paint mainly in oils but can be known to add a bit of acrylic, after the oil drys.

I love the country side the sea and the vibrancy of cities and these are essentially my theme for now. I painted twelve bens and connor pass having seen some beautiful scenic photos online, blues and greens are so calming. I grew up in Kerry so am no stranger to beautiful scenery. I try to put as much effort into the sky at the beginning of the painting as this sets the tone for the foreground.

I had also admired Padraig Mc Cauls vivid cottage paintings so thought I would give it a go in my own style. I also love Paul Henrys blue mountains so I try to integrate them too.
